Radha Pandya
Radha is currently a senior at Pittsford Mendon High School. She began learning Bharatanatyam at the age of seven in Greensboro, North Carolina with Mrs. Veena Argade and later with Mrs. Priya Gopal. After moving to Rochester in 2010, she continued her journey under the tutelage of her Guru, Smt. Parvatha Chidambaram. This dance form has taught her perseverance, discipline, dedication, and has given her a means of furthering her knowledge of Hinduism and Indian heritage. Radha has earned her Certificate in Performing Arts from Alagappa Performing Arts Academy. In addition, she completed the Bharatanatyam repertoire and performed her Shalangai Puja last year. Radha has participated in numerous events and fundraisers in Rochester, and was one of the student event coordinators for last year’s Bharata annual recital and fundraiser.
Aside from dancing, Radha enjoys playing the flute and piano, and is currently a member of the Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra. She has been attending Hindu Heritage Summer Camp for the past four years and was a counselor this past summer. Pursuing Bharatanatyam has been a very enriching and rewarding experience for Radha and she is confident that she will continue this art form at Cornell University and beyond.
